At least according to a recent study by the National Association of Home Builders. Following the logic that buyers these days are looking not only at purchase price, but also maintenance costs, their research found that almost every buyer is looking for some element of energy efficiency.
The study, reported on by Realtor’s Styled, Staged & Sold blog, found that fully 94% of buyers wanted energy-star-rated appliances. An energy-star rating for the whole house came in a close second with 91% of buyers interested, while 89% wanted energy-star-rated windows.
Storage space lagged just behind energy efficiency, with 85 to 90% of buyers looking for closet space, garage storage space, and a walk-in pantry.
If you’re jumping into the sellers’ market, maybe it’s a good time to make some energy-efficient upgrades.
